Autogas ServicesTransport for London is pursuing an aggressive policy to encourage car, van, truck and bus operators to clean up their acts, cuttting CO2 and other emissions.
The forthcoming London Low Emission Zone is an example of this. TfL's website says: "The objective of the Low Emission Zone is to improve air quality in London.
London has the worst air pollution in the United Kingdom and amongst the worst in Europe, adversely affecting the health and quality of life of many Londoners." So it was a surprise to see one of TfL's vans parked on the forecourt of London's Victoria Station yesterday morning, with the engine running.
Even more surprising to see that the driver was stretched out across all three seats in the cab, apparently fast asleep.
That same TfL website says the Mayor of London has a legal obligation to take steps towards meeting national and European Union air quality objectives which are designed to protect human health. So it would be good if TfL led by example.
