LPG cost saving 2011

The following information is for a guide only but gives the cost saving of using LPG fuel as an alternative to petrol based on current fuel prices.

Typical petrol price today January 2011 £1.30 pence per litre or £5.90 per gallon
Typical gas price today January 2011 £0.75 pence per litre or £3.41 per gallon

Typical family car:

Averaging 20mpg over 30000 miles.
Petrol price 1.30p per litre
LPG price 0.75p per litre
You lose twenty percent MPG due to the calorific difference of LPG against petrol so with this worked out you will save based on the above £2468.63, which is an equivalent mpg of 28mpg.

Off road large 4x4 car:

Averaging 15 mpg over 30000 miles.
Petrol price 1.30p per litre
LPG price 0.75p per litre
You lose twenty percent MPG due to the calorific difference of LPG against petrol so with this worked out you will save based on the above £3291.50, which is an equivalent mpg of 21mpg.
